AND THEN, …

… when it is flowing, there is no time for blogs or social media or crafting tweets.  But now – thanks to the Muses – there is a first draft of the new show with Phil Bowen.  (Not ready to name it or talk about it here, but it involves a Piano.)  We’ll take a break now until January – there is a lot still to do, but the shape and basic material is all there, including seven new songs.

I understand that the DVD of the Jubilee Opera production of DRUMMER BOY will be made available for us soon to prepare some clips for this website.  Of course, Megg and I are looking to further life for this piece.

And now I need a graphic for this post.  Well, it’s a miserable day out there, though mild for December, and I don’t think another photograph of the garden will cut it this time.  As my studio piano (for playing) keyboardsfeatured at the end of November, here are the other keyboard controllers here (for recording): Axiom and Roli.  In classy black and white: ebony and ivory.  Actually, I usually write music in (in Sibelius) but then, for work which isn’t going to be played by musicians, I shall sometimes add backgrounds, pads and occasional live solos to the Arrangement (in Logic), which I play in.  The final step is often to take the audio files to Music Sales, together with scores and parts, and then we carry on in ProTools to the mix and mastering.  At other times we stay in Logic at Riverrun for CHRONOMETER production.  Or (as with DBW) it is all printed up and played by real people.
